Stripe Sweater Dress & Black Leather Boots - Fall Weather Wear

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Definitely one of my favorite holidays and I am heading to Los Angeles with the family. My two kids, dad, and I are all going. I'm originally from Los Angeles so for me LA is all about visiting family and friends, especially since this is the first time I have been since my mom's passing this year. I'm super exciting, but I am also driving so I'm not that exciting about the 6 hours it will take, especially since this time I will be doing all the driving.

It's starting to get cold now in the Bay Area. It has been raining on and off so it was time for me to get some warmer weather wear.  I pick up this lovely dress at Ross, which of course is one of my fav stores, for under $20 bucks whoohoo. It caught my eye when I first saw it, but wasn't sure at first how it would look on me. I'm typically cautious with bodycons, but I have recently starting using a new shape wear trick to help me get into all of those bodycons that I love seeing on other people even though my stomach is my problem area.

The black boots I picked up at the Aldo Outlet in Livermore, CA. I hadn't been there yet so while my daughter was a birthday party near by I decided to check them out. Love the place and therefore probably shouldn't visit that often. LOL The Aldo store was having a sale were they were offering 50% off the lowest marked price. These boots were marked for $90 so I pick up these babies for $45 and they are actually leather. Man I love a good deal.

Ethnic Print Fierceness - Halter Mini Dress and Nude Wedges

I first sourced this dress for the online clothing boutique that I use to have Mahogany Closet. When I first saw it I thought it was so cute and I figured people were going to either really love it or not get it all. I feel like this happens a lot with fashion. Sometimes I will put an outfit together and think to myself people are going to either really think this is cool or wonder what was she thinking, but as long as I love it, who cares. And almost every time I end up going out and getting lots of compliments.

Leopard and Snake - Mixing Animal Prints

When I'm thinking about mixing animal prints I treat it like I would mixing any print. If I'm going to wear two different types of animal prints then I try to stay in the same color family. This leopard print trench coat and these snake print shoes are also two of my favorite pieces, definite staples in my closet. They're easy to just throw on and go with almost everything. I think I actually like it better with the two different animal prints. If the shoes were leopard print too I probably wouldn't wear them together. I think it would fill too matchy matchy. Threw on this little black cowl neck dress and some accessories and ready to go!

Let me know what you think about this outfit and mixing animal prints in general.

My Love for Everything Sparkly - Sequins Embellished Little Black Dress

I love this dress cause it's so simple on one hand but at the same time the sequins gives it some sparkly boldness. There is sequins only in the front and not in the back, which I think makes it a little more comfortable. I have other sequin dresses that are harder to wear cause the sequins rubs under your arms or on your sides all night and starts to hurt .... I've had this dress for a long time and I'm pretty sure I got it from Ross (which I think may be my favorite store. I always find such really great pieces here. It's like a fun scavenger hunt for the clothing obsessed lol) and I can't remember exactly how much I paid but I know it was under $20 (I love a good deal). I added the shoes and clutch for a little extra sparkle and I threw on the blazer so I wouldn't get too cold going out. It also acts a little like a security blanket for me to help hid my arms and other parts I may be a little self conscious of in this bodycon dress.

Hope you like! Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Welcome to My Blog! - Introduction

I have been talking about relaunching my blog with a personal style section for a very very long time (years). There was always a good reason why I couldn't, didn't or simply just wasn't making it happen. Then my mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly this August and it was a reminder that we are not promised tomorrow and there is no time like to present to make your dreams a reality. So here I am and I hope you enjoy!

This is dedicated to you mommy!!!
I love and miss you so much!!!

About what I'm wearing:
This is one of my favorite dresses. I feel like it is just perfect for almost every occasion. I've worn it to run errands, grocery shopping, to work, to cocktail mixers, to networking events, on a date. It just so comfy and this style just looks really good on my body type. Just throw it on and go. And the best part is that I didn't even pay for it. My big sis Kim gave it to me years ago when she was cleaning out her closet. (WINNING!) One woman's trash is another woman's treasure.
