A Twist to Swapping that May Help You Give/Get More + Mahogany Closet Mondays Fashion Link Up

You may remember I wrote a post a little while ago about utilizing clothes swapping to help extend your wardrobe. This beautiful cardigan sweater is another item I swapped/"borrowed" from a friend of mine. Have you ever tried to clean out your closet, have items that you haven't worn in a long time, but you still have a hard time getting rid of them. Sometimes I really have a hard time with this. My big sis came over once and was asking if I had cleaned out my closet and had anything to give. I had a couple of on the fence items. Items I hadn't worn in probably close to a year, but I still thought they were cute so I was having a hard time letting go of. She told me that if I gave the clothes to her and then at any point later, I decided I wanted any of the pieces back I could just let her know and she would give it back no problem. For me that opened up a whole level of freedom that allowed me to let go and give her a bunch more items. And now that they are actually out of my closet and it has allowed me to clear up that additional space I don't think I will be asking her for anything back, but it is nice to have that option. So maybe if you have a fashionable friend/family member you want to swap with, but either of you are having a hard time letting go, try initiating this give back clause and see if that helps. What do you think!

Budget outfit details: So the striped cardigan I got for free. The skirt I got from Old Navy a long time ago for $8. It's a black tank (tamis) that I am I'm wearing under the cardigan which isalso an old school Old Navy piece and cost $8. The strappy sandals I got from GoJane.com for $16. So for a grand total of $32, I think that is an amazing deal!

Rocking a Dress with Sneakers + Mahogany Closet Mondays Fashion Link UP

I am not really a sneaker kinda girl. I don't wear they that often, most of my sneakers are for working out. My brother works for Nike at their corporate office in Portland, so we can often expect some fresh Nike gear when it is a gift giving occasion. So for my birthday last June he got me these super cute sneakers and they had been sitting in the box on the shelf in my closet for months. Finally I was going to a hip hop event so I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to wear them paired with a black dress. I loved how it came out but I didn't really like the pictures from the event. Have you ever gone out somewhere and then seen some pictures later and think, I know my outfit looked cuter than that in person? LOL So I decided to recreate the look and thought the railroad tracks and local graffiti art would be the perfect background for the look. What do you think?

Budget Outfit Details: The dress is actually part of the Nicki Minaj collection at Kmart and I got it on sale for only $8, The shoes cost something, but seeing as I got them as a gift they were free to me! So all in all an $8 outfit. Sounds like an amazing budget outfit to me.

When weather conditions get rough it can make being fashionable a little harder. Depending on where you live you could be dealing with colder weather, rain, snow, hail or a combination. The ladies I chose for as this week's Featured Fashionistas, are two ladies who have done a fabulous job of staying cute while also being weather appropriate.
