Keeping It Clexy - Black Floral Dress with a Pop of Pink

A friend of mine was looking at one of pictures and told me it looked Clexy. Huh? Classy and Sexy! I thought it was so funny and cute I decided to use it.

To me this dress is the perfect day to night outfit. Great for work in the day time, then throw on a pair of sexy strappy high heel sandals to wear out at night. It think it would also make a good first date outfit. I think it says I'm cute and sexy, but you ain't getting none. LOL

First Link Up - Mahogany Closet Mondays Fashion Link Up #1 - Flared skirt and Spike Shoes

Link-Up
Excited about my first link up! Please scroll to the bottom of the page to link up.

About the outfit:
I stopped by Ross with NO intention of buying any clothes. Really, I'm telling the truth. I have been searching for closet organization and cute home decor items. I actually got a cute store box to use to store my clutches in. But as I was heading to check out I happened to see this skirt for only $12.99. At first I said I already have a black and white a-line flared skirt. I wore it here. But it was just so cute and a great price. I told myself I would take home and try it on and if it looked too similar to the other one I would just take it back. When i got it home and tried it on I feel in love. I think it is just so cute and has a completely different feel than the other skirt. What do you think?

Sorry for the blurry pic

Is she wearing pants??? Yes she is!!

Large Gingham Plaid Open Front Cardigan Sweater Blue Skinny Jeans Jeggings Mahogany Closet Melissa Geddis

I wear dresses like 90% of the time. Dresses are so easy! It's only one piece so you don't have to figure out what you are going to wear with it. With a dress it's easy to look dressed up (no pun intended) without really trying. Dresses are also comfortable. Pants sometimes feel so constricting and uncomfortable to me. Starting this blog inspires me to want to step outside my comfort zone. With that in mind I was on Rue21.com and they were having a buy 1 get 1 for $5 sale on their jeggings so I decided to try it out and to my surprise I LOVE these pants. They are soo super soft and comfy and super cute to boot (Score!). Rue21.com has a plus size section but it is kind of limited. I got these in the regular section in a 13/14 and I actually still have a good amount of room in them. The stretch in these are excellent!

This sweater I got on a trip to Ross (surprise, surprise lol). I had no plans on buying anything like this. I was actually doing a little Christmas shopping for the kids. And I already have 2 kind of similar open front cardigans, but somethings called me about this sweater and I made the mistake of trying it on. As soon as I put it on I fell for it. In addition to being cute it is so soft and comfy. It turned out to be a good buy because I wear it a lot.

Hiking Cataract Falls Waterfall - Fit & Fabulous Fridays

Part of my Intention for 2015 is being good to my body. That includes loving myself, making healthy food choices and increasing activity. So to start the new year off right I decided to go hiking. I actually did this hike on New Years Day, it just took me a minute to get it up on the site. A couple years ago I search hikes in the Bay Area and found Cataract Falls, an actually waterfall in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's in Fairfax, CA which is in Marin County (North Bay).  Last time I went was summer and it was a nice hike, but the falls were completely dry. So after the storm and rains we had and how amazing that creek was in Middletown, I decided that I really wanted to check this hike out again during winter and it didn't disappoint. This hike is beautiful. Filled with not only waterfalls but also bridges and a large fallen trees that I decided to walk out on and take a picture. This is an out a back hike. It's either 2.6 miles total if you stop at the picnic tables or 7.7 miles total if you keep going. I did the 2.6 miles and it was still a good workout. It is pretty much all up hill going out. It is challenging, but it is not too too difficult. There were people with their children hiking up the falls. I actually took my son the first time I went. I would also suggest packing snacks. We had sandwiches, water, and drinks that we ate when we got to the picnic area. All and all I highly suggest this hike. Below are 2 good links that give you more information about this hike. Some directions referring to making a turn when you see a Valero gas station. It is no longer a Valero. It's now a small off brand gas station. This last time I just put the coordinates in my Waze app and let GPS take me there.

Here are sites that have great additional information about Cataract Falls, the hike and how to get there

The waterfalls looked so much better in person.

My First Gif - Easy How to Make a Gif Tutorial

Whenever I see an animated gifs I just think they are the coolest thing (I know I a little bit of a dweeb.). So I decided I was going to finally learn how to make one. I recently downloaded the open source photo editor GIMP. I was looking for something with some of the advance capabilities of Photoshop but with a less steep price tag and found this for FREE, yayyy. So far, it does pretty much all of the things that I would need it to do, which honestly isn't a lot. With my new found interest in wanting to learn how to make a gif, I simply Googled "How to make a gif in gimp".  I found a couple videos on YouTube (videos seem to be the best way for me to learn graphic stuff) but I think the one below is the simplest one that actually fit what I was trying to do. So check it out and let me know and see if you actually try it!

Black and White with a Pop of Red

Mahogany Closet Black and White A-line skirt Red Neiman Marcus stud clutch Melissa Geddis

I was browsing Neiman Marcus's outlet website lastcall.com and I can accross a skirt that I thought was really cute and was considering buying and they actually had it in an XL. Then a couple days later I was at Ross and saw this one for $19.99 and knew I had to have it. I paired it with a simple baby tee and a Neiman Marcus brand red clutch that I also happened to get at Neiman Marcus Last Call. I just love black and white together. It's one of my favorite color combinations. So much so I once had a black and white with a pop of color themed birthday party. It's classic, chic and a lil bold all at the same time.

10 Favorite 2015 Golden Globes Red Carpet Looks

I was actually slightly underwhelmed by the this year's Golden Globes red carpet looks overall, but I did find and pick out 10 of my favorite and thought I would share it with you guys

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in this dress by Zuhair Murad

I love Kelly Osbourne in this dress by Georges Chakra. Simple, gorgeous, and chic

And the best dress male of the 2015 Golden Globes goes to ... Common wearing Prada. There's nothing like a well dressed male.

I'm so use to seeing Uzo Aduba looking like "Crazy Eyes" that I love to see her transformation back to her true self. She looks beautiful in this dress by Randi Rahm

I don't love this dress that Jane Fonda is wearing, but it fits her body like a glove. And any woman who can look like this at 77 years of age deserves big kudos, applause, and everything else in my book!

So again no my favorite dress but I had never heard of drag queen Conchita Wurst before this red carpet. Her mix between soft beauty and masculine beard and tattoos is genius and has me kind of obsessed with her.

Kate Hudson in Versace

Love how Lorde stood out by not wearing a gown but still kept it beautiful and chic in this pant suit by Narcisco Rodriguez

Reese Witherspoon dress by Calvin Klein and jewelry by Tiffany & Co

Had to give a shout out to my fellow thick sista Danielle Brooks. I almost didn't recognize her from Orange is the New Black. This dress is about half a size too small and a couple inches too short but she still looks beautiful. A good stylist should have fixed this for her, but it's apparent that most stylish in Hollywood seem to have no idea what to do with thicker women.
