The Leopard Life + Mahogany Closet Mondays Fashion Link Up

Happy Halloween!!! Sorry there was no link up last week. I had some very emotional things happen with my family last weekend and I just was not in an emotional state to be able to write a blog post. But things are feeling better now and on a positive note I had a great Halloween.

If you can't tell from the pictures or the title of this post I was a leopard for Halloween this year (ROAR). I actually didn't think I was going to go out for Halloween until the day before, so I needed something I could do at the last minute and preferred to do something I didn't have to go out and buy a lot for. For me a great Halloween costume is all about the make-up (last year I impressed myself with my bullet wound in the head make-up I was able to do). I had seen a lion make-up tutorial on YouTube a while back and thought that that would make a good costume, but I didn't know what I would wear if I were a lion. Remembering I had leopard print clothing I thought I could be a lionpard, half lion half leopard. I had a whole plan of doing big curly hair for the mane and wearing a biege fur vest to mock the lion hair. But then I saw some leopard makeup tutorials on YouTube, and decided it would probably be best to just stick with one species.

All and all I really liked how it came out. If I were to do it again I would have continued the leopard spot all the down the side of my face and neck, since my hair ended up covering up half of my spots. Also if I had planned ahead of time I would have bought cat eye contacts and fangs. I also would have bought or made a tail and ears. I had a blast and ended up going to three different parties.

What were you for Halloween? What did you do? I hope to see some Halloween costumes on the link up.

Budget Friendly Costume: It turned out that I had all of the make up I needed for the look (The moment you are overjoyed that you may be a slight makeup hoarder). The jacket I got from forever 21 several years ago so I don't remember exactly how much it cost but I know it was under $30. The dress I traded an item that I owned for it on Poshmark, so it only cost me about $3 (the cost to ship my item to the other lady). The steel boned corset I got on eBay for under $20. You can't see my shoes but they are leopard print single strap sandals I bought on Poshmark for $13
